Date of Birth and Where?

October 14th 1987, Everett WA

How did you get into Disc Golf and when?

In early 1993 my father and I were throwing an ultimate disc around in a park in Mountlake Terrace. We noticed some dudes were trying to throw theirs at the posts on purpose. They told us about “frolf”. 2 weeks later we met another dude in a van selling discs at Terrace Creek Park, where they actually had baskets to play into. Shout out Lowell Shields my Disc Father!

Why did you get competitive and when did that trigger?

I played a few tournaments as a kid, life happens, I put my discs away for a few years. Then I took fellow GRIPPT bro JVP and his little brother out to the LS course. As a competition junkie, watching what I saw that day, I knew I had a solid decade of beating them at this! To my surprise, Jason’s man crush on another fellow GRIPPT member Nick Sanchez eventually created a monster! I would have never got a PDGA number or played a tournament if my best friend didn’t make DG a positive thing in my life again, and again and again. Now I’ve spent a decade + trying to keep up with you J and I really do have you to thank for all this!

Most memorable tournament to date?

It’s a tie, the 2014 and 2016 Maui Opens at Poli Poli DGC! It’s a bucket list stop for any disc golfer I promise, it’s paradise, my heaven, spread my ashes there, you get it.

Most memorable non-tournament round to date?

Poli Poli DGC!

What part of your game do you feel best about?

I think I can scramble from anywhere, at anytime, in any condition. Both that mindset and all the throws I’ve learned to get it are the foundation of my game plan

Least favorite part of your game?

Putting, specifically inside the circle. Yeah I said I started in 1993, yes I should be better, thanks for your thoughts.

Dream Sponsor?

Innova

Okay dream round, who are the other 3 players on your card and what course?

If it’s my dream we are all on the lead card at Worlds, it’s being held at Poli Poli on Maui. I’m leading, by ALOT, Jason VanProyen is the only one in reach, my brother Damion is in 3rd and probably Paul Macbeth.

Advice to new players?

My advise to new players would be to practice all your lies, get comfortable being uncomfortable. Another big one is to be realistic with your expectations, it’s supposed to be fun!

Advice to people better then you?

My advise to players better than me would be NEVER QUIT! I’ve spent my whole life to earn this no time professional winning career. If you have it naturally, you owe it to us that grind in this game to take it as far as you can. This sport is going somewhere finally, respect what it gives you and those who made it that way.

MMM. ……. How about some Either OR?

You can have a salary of $45K, free travel by train, free stays at Motel6, paid entry fee to as many tournaments as you want? OR Unlimited cash flow, live in a RV to tour and play disc golf all the time but you can never enter a Tournament?

I’ll make 45 Gs work, gimme the tournaments. I’m a gluten for punishment.

Beer and Pizza? OR Whiskey and Steak?

Blunt and Pizza

Do you run it or play it safe?

Run it!

Roller? Or Thumber?

Tough choice, gotta do both, gotta have em all.

40oz?ORBoxed Wine?

40oz, but only with a blunt!

Anything else you want people to know?

I’m just happy to be on the team homies!
